With summer fast approaching, it’s time to take a closer look at your skin to see what it really needs. Getting back to the very basics and mastering the beauty tips that really make a difference is knowledge worth knowing. From its ability to improve skin tone, texture and helping with those dreaded dimples, the benefits to body brushing are endless. It’s one of the best things you can do when it comes to prepping your skin for summer! Body brush like a pro and combat unsightly cellulite with these tips from Elemis…

Why should we be body brushing?

Using a body brush daily stimulates the circulation and lymphatic drainage to aid detoxification and can help us eliminate up to 1lb of toxins a day. Not only does it restore the feel-good factor by improving skin tone and body firmness, using a body brush enhances the results of every single body product you then use. It’s a must to add to your daily routine!

How important it is to help our lymphatic system when detoxing?

It is so important to understand our lymphatic system, which essentially is the cleansing of our immune system. Body Brushing preps the body by stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage which then aids detoxification.

A minute of quick, light body brushing on the hips, thighs, bum, tummy and backs of arms speeds up the detoxification process – keeping in mind that the skin is the largest eliminative organ of the body and when working at its peak it eliminates 1lb toxins a day.

What is the correct way to dry body brush?

We advise body brushing with 3 simple steps. Step 1 – Start on dry skin before bathing, take the Body Brush and start with small circular strokes and build to longer, smoother strokes. It’s really important to start at the ankles and work upwards as this is the direction of the lymphatic fluid that flows through the body. Step 2 – When brushing your back, begin at the neck and work downwards to the bottom of your back. Always be careful of sensitive areas – making sure to avoid inflamed skin, sores, sunburn or cancer. Step 3 – Once you have finished dry body brushing, it’s important to wash away dead skin cells to prevent clogged pores. Follow with the Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil or the Cellutox Active Body Concentrate.
