How To Create The Perfect On Trend Autumn Lip

It’s easy to update your wardrobe. Scarves, knits, boots, done.  But updating your make-up for the Autumn season can be that little bit trickier. This autumn we cannot get enough of the dark lip. Spearheaded by the likes of Cara Delevingne and Jordan Dunn at the Autumn Winter 16 shows back in Spring, the gothic inspired lip is the must-have autumn look. But as with any dramatic look, it can be a challenge to achieve. That’s why we’ve devised these five top tips to help you achieve the perfect autumn lip.

number 1

Scrub Up

We all exfoliate our skin but we often forget to do the same with our lips. Use a gentle exfoliator to scrub away excess skin from dry, flaky lips. This Bliss Fabulips Sugar Lip Scrub works hard to remove dead, chapped skin to reveal a beautifully smooth finish that prolongs your lipstick.

number 2

Go Back to Basics

Prevention is always better than the cure and the best way to prepare your lips for a dramatic lip colour is to keep them in great shape in the first place. Invest in a quality lip balm like this Perfecting Lip Balm from Omorovicza. A matte base, it’s perfect for using under lipstick or gloss whilst hydrating and plumping lips leaving them soft and smooth.

number 3

Reach For the Liner

Whilst lip liner is not always necessary with a nude lip, if a dark lipstick bleeds, it will be noticeable. Use a Merlot coloured liner to carefully outline the lips and create the perfect on trend vintage, renaissance look. This Lipstick Queen Lip Liner in shade Wine or Rouge is ideal for achieving the perfect outlined look.

Lipstick Time

After all that prep it’s finally time to add some colour. Fill your lips with this Youngblood Lipstick in shade ‘Bistro’  for some on trend colour. When applying, make sure you hold your lips taut to ensure that the colour is deposited on every part of the lip.

number 5

Into the Gloss

Don’t stop at the lipstick layer, add a layer of gloss for a super plump, nourished finish. Designed for a long-lasting, non-sticky feel this Max Factor Elixir Lip Gloss can be mixed with your favourite lipstick for endless shades. Plus, the product’s blend of conditioning ingredients is perfect for keeping your lips in tip top shape.
