Facial oil is the holy grail of skincare products. Although it’s not a new invention, today’s wave of eco-conscious beauty addicts have sparked a huge surge of interest. And though they’re considered a hero product by so many, many of us shy away from using a facial oil because we’re either unaware of the benefits, or we’re not sure which one is most suited to our skin type. We’ve put together a guide to help you decide which facial oil is the best for which skin type.
Why facial oil?
Facial oil has many benefits. The right oil can help moisturise the skin, unclog pores and help reduce acne. Whilst there’s always a fear of a greasy complexion, the key to finding a good facial oil is recognising that they are not all the same. While some can nourish the skin, others can irritate it. That’s why it’s crucial that you pick the right one for your skin type. Before we uncover the right facial oil for your skin type, let’s outline the benefits.
- It can reduce wrinkles
- It protects your skin
- It reduces the appearance of large pores
- It’s good for dry skin
- It makes the perfect primer for under makeup
When to apply facial oil?
Facial oil should be applied after cleansing, exfoliating and toning and before applying a serum and moisturiser. Apply three drops onto the fingers tips and pat onto the face, focusing first on the cheeks and forehead and the chin. This allows for the oil to be distributed around the largest areas of the face. Then, use upward strokes to evenly apply onto the skin.
