City Breaks for Autumn 2016

It’s officially September, meaning it’s the perfect time to take a culture-rich city break! Whilst some of us might be crying into our bathroom cabinet as we pack away our sunscreen for another year, others will relish the opportunity to slather on the thicker moisturiser and jet-off to cooler climates. Whether you’re planning a romantic city break with the other half, or a long weekend with the family, we’ve put together our favourite city breaks that will give any culture vulture a hit this month.

Venice, Italy

It’s wildly considered to be one of Italy’s most beautiful and romantic cities. Whilst the summer welcomes some of the city’s most daunting crowds, the cooler months makes room for a quieter city – perfect for those who love exploring the haze of the age-old alleyways without the stress of the bustling crowds.

Being one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations, the city’s famous Gondola rides are often overcrowded during the summer months. Visiting the ‘City of Water’ during the autumn months means you can ride the Grand Canal without the ridiculous crowds, astronomical prices and oppressive heat of the high season.

Paris is the classic of all European city breaks. After a hot, sluggish August, the city comes alive again in September. The city’s Autumn Festival kicks off on September 7th where an array of dance, music, film and theatre acts will flood the city for a season of Parisian fun.

Whilst there are lots of classic landmarks to visit in the city, such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame church, its also littered with attractions not so well known. Get lost in Luis Vuitton’s world of art at the Fondation modern art gallery in the Bois de Boulogne or take a boat ride down the picturesque River Seine.
