Summer to Autumn Transitions

As summer gives way to autumn we enter in to that strange in-between period. But when the heat of the summer subsides to make room for cooler climates, your skin can become dry, irritated and chapped. We’ve swooped in with some of our favourite brands that will save you from suffering as the weather gets harsher. Here are some top tips that will transform your beauty regime from summer to autumn.

Layer Up

It’s not just a thicker coat that you need to be wearing as autumn creeps in, you’ll need to layer up on the moisturiser too. The air is typically drier and harsher, stripping the skin of natural oils and essential moisture. If you’ve been using a serum during the summer months it might be time to switch to a thick nourishing moisturiser. This Eve Lom Moisture Mask has an intensive formula that will give tender loving care to those prone to dry skin. The mask’s Aqua Complex helps increase moisture in all layers of the epidermis, while the vitamin E protects the skin from environmental damage!

Get More Oxygen

Hungarian skincare specialists and Beauty Expert’s brand of the month, Omorovicza have launched their Oxygen Booster – perfect for keeping the skin hydrated during the summer to autumn transitional period. Unlike other skincare products, boosters can be used on their own as well as being combined with other products to ‘supercharge’ them.

For this particular booster, the brand’s patented Hydro Mineral Transference delivery system infuses oxygen molecules directly into the skin, whilst its Swertia Chirata Extract gives a firmer, plumper appearance.Expert tip: If your current moisturiser isn’t quite delivering on the hydration or anti-ageing front, add a few drops of the Oxygen Booster for an instant shot of hydration.

Scrub Up

Skin damage from the sun’s rays can lead to a dead cell build up on your skin.  In order to keep a fresh, dewy complexion, it’s crucial to exfoliate – and there’s no better time to brush away those lurking remnants of your summer holiday.

It’s also important to use a gentle exfoliation method that won’t completely strip your skin of moisture. The Konjac Sponge Company have a 6 wave 100% pure sponge which has been designed to gently remove tired dead skin cells. It’s all-natural exfoliant is gentle enough for everyday use as well as being 100% Biodegradable – so it’s kind to the environment as well!

For the body, autumn is a great time to introduce a body scrub to ward of dead skin build up and avoid any dry, itchy patches. Get your softest skin yet with REN’s Guerande Salt Exfoliating Body Balm. Jam-packed with minerals from France’s North Atlantic, it’s natural Olive, Basil and Peppermint based formula cleanses and polishes the skin, as well as leaving it smooth and toned.
Expert tip: Massage the balm into the skin using the Konjac sponge and rinse off and repeat twice weekly. Try not to leave your sponge where it remains too wet, such as in the shower. The drier the atmosphere your sponge is stored in, the longer it will last!

Go Easy on the Hot Tap

A hot shower might seem like the perfect way to warm up after a long day but it can actually cause havoc with your skin, stripping away essential oils leaving skin parched, dry and scaly. Shower in warm water and lather yourself in Decleor’s Alguaromes Shower and Bath Gel. The gel’s blend of nourishing oils work to cleanse and invigorate the skin whilst neutralising the effects of hard water.

Don’t Forget about the Hands and Feet

As we adapt our skincare to reflect a new season, don’t forget about the hand and feet. Proper hand and feet care not only keeps them in tip top condition, but it also avoids the risk of bacterial diseases and skin infections. The six-piece Burt’s Bees Toes and Tips Kit contains an abundance of pampering products that are crammed with vitamin enriched oils and botanical extracts – just what you need after a hard day at the office!

The set also comes fully equipped with a sweet-smelling Pomegranate Lip Balm and a Lemon Butter Cuticle Formula that will help prolong the summer scent throughout autumn too.
